NODS Meeting Minutes 5-3-09
All Officers present 28 Members & Guests present Ralph Haehn-Daylilies and Related Topics Ralph presented a history of the daylily
and how daylilies have become the gorgeous flowers we see today. He spoke of his personal hybridizing goals and explained
how to create goals for your own hybridizing program. We all enjoyed Ralph's comments and hearing about his daylily interests.
He concluded his program with a fun poem titled Reincarnation

Birthday wishes for Curt Hanson! This month Curt
is celebrating a landmark birthday! The club was treated to a fabulous lunch brought in by President, Doug Bowen, and
other goodies were supplied by many Members.
Any birthday celebration would be incomplete with out a cake and the singing of Happy Birthday. Curt enjoyed his cake,
many cards and well wishes, and of course the birthday song! Happy Birthday and thank you for all you do to support NODS! July Plant Sale Members were reminded of the upcoming sale
July 11-12. Please post your Sale Flyer at a location in your community at the beginning of July. A sign up sheet
was available to help dig plants and help sign up for other tasks. Working for the sale is how you earn your daylily rebate! Scape Show-Cleveland
Botanical Garden NODS will be having a daylily
flower scape show on Sunday, July 26, 2009. The Show Committee had a brief meeting following the regular meeting. The
Committee finalized the program book, settled on the award ribbons, and decided how the flowers would be displayed.
NODS will have some plants available for sale during the show. Show Judges will be Doug Bowen, Mark Druckenbrod, and
Kelly Anne Conley. We will be judging only registered
on scape flowers in the following categories: Extra Large Flowers, Large Flowers, Small Flowers, Miniature Flowers, Doubles, Spiders, and Unusual Forms. Entries must be received between 8AM and 11AM. No entry
will be placed after 11AM. Cultivars will be judged between 12:00 and 2:00 PM. We will also be displaying Off Scape cultivars during the show.
