The NODS Planning Meeting for the Botanical Garden Scape Show and Daylily Sale was held on 04-17-10 at 10:15 A.M.

Location: Belle’s Restaurant in Burton

Attendance: 16 members (2 new members) and 4 officers.

The meeting started with the introduction of two new members ― Shawn Biese and Shelley Baeslack.

Botanical Garden Show:
Cynthia Druckenbrod reported that Sunday, July 25th will be the scape show at the Botanical Garden. Discussion was held on ways to cut the judging time down and that we need more members both attending and entering scapes. Check-in time for the entries will start at 8:00AM and open at noon to the public.  Laura has several crates of wine bottles for the daylilies. The ODS website has a link for directions on preparing a scape. Ralph Haehn will do a presentation for the members at the picnic at Curt’s on the 24th of July. It does not matter if the scape is flawed―the public doesn’t care…they just want to see the flowers and we want to promote our sale.
The meeting on May 1st at the Botanical Garden―parking is $5.00 except on the street.
Cynthia will call Rae for information on the labels.  Help will be needed with check-in on the day of the show.

Daylily Sale:
The annual daylily sale will be on August 21st and 22nd. By June 1st we will have a list of the plants for the botanical sale and the annual sale. It is yet to be determined which gardens we will be digging from for each sale, but they will not be the same.
Display boards for the sale were discussed and anyone is encouraged to find links to display boards and send them to Doug. Leslie will help with the display boards. She has also volunteered to send out the letters and flyers for the advertising of the show and contact the newspapers. Wendy from Penitentiary Glen will also be contacted.
Digging will be August 16th ―August 20th. Libby, Jay, Eric, Marsha, Sheryl, and Mary all volunteered to help―more are always needed.
Arlene and Sheryl will handle all of the refreshments for the sale.
Sheryl will check into purchasing a laminator for the club at Sam’s Club. Gigi will bring sample cards to the next meeting to see what size of film to purchase.

Member Comments: Remember that the Ohio Daylily Meeting is this coming Saturday. Anyone attending the regional meeting will be reimbursed $50.00 from the club. Gigi and Julie are attending and asking if other members are going to carpool or share rooms.
Laura is looking for any of the common ditch lilies for a woman that contacted her looking for some. Jim will see that she gets some―if you have any let them know.
