Picnic Brunch
Food was supplied by NODS and club members. We had lots and lots of great dishes to choose from!
Thanks to everyone for bringing such wonderful food and making this a very successful event.
July 2008 Daylily
Sale
The summer of 2008 will
go down in NODS history as the best plant sale to date. Not only did we have 275 different cultivars available to sell,
we were able to display many of the actual flower blooms in the sale for customers to see. Many thanks to Curt Hanson
and Mark Druckenbrod for their extra generous donations! The current sale format and amount of work was discussed. The
club decided to continue to have our annual sale in the current format. Members agreed to offer more support by working
more in the set up and preparation of the sale.
Plant Rebate Qualification Change
Because the proceeds of the sale supply the funds for the club, a motion was made to change the current
criteria of participating in three club events through out the year to participating in the preparation of the plant sale.
A list of tasks related to the sale will be provided. Members can sign up for a sale task. Once the task has been
completed the member will be eligible for the rebate.
Plant Donation Certificates
We will continue to offer donation certificates to NODS members
who donate plants to the annual sale. However, this year to qualify, members must line out the donations at their own location
and divide and clean them to get them ready for the sale. Information about donating sale plants is on the website under
Annual Plant Sale. A motion was also passed to rent garden space from some members for the sale plants.
Mini Mecca Tour Review
A
recap of the tour was given and pictures from the gardens that were visted were passed.
Picnic Special at
Crintonic Gardens
Curt
Hanson and NODS arranged a special offer for purchases made at Crintonic Gardens on the day of the picnic. The club
paid 50% of the members purchases made that day.
Next Meeting
Since we are having a summer picnic this year, we decided to change the fall picnic to
a clinic. Mark Druckenbrod will lead a discussion on soil and bed preparation in October. More details will follow.
