NODS Meeting Minutes 4-18-08
NODS Meeting Minutes-April 26, 2008 Location: Arabica Coffee House-Chesterland, OH
Scholarship
Program In a unanimous vote, NODS
members agreed to donate a $1,000 scholarship for three years to Kent State University. The scholarship will be awarded
to a student who is enrolled in Kent State's horticulture program and is interested in hybridizing daylilies. Preference
will be given to a student from Geauga County. In the event the County requirement can not be met, the scholarship will be
awarded to the best possible candidate. The University requested that NODS visit the campus to help
select a suitable location for a daylily garden and offer advice on the care and planting of daylilies. NODS has also agreed
to donate a selection of daylilies from each form (single, double, spider, unusual form, mini, etc.) for the display garden.
In addition, NODS will visit the campus annually to work with the horticulture students. A
draft of the Scholarship Form will be presented at our meeting on May 25th. NODS Mini Mecca Tour
The
June garden tour schedule was reviewed. We also discussed the cost for the trip and a sign up sheet was distributed.
Members interested in more information about the trip should contact Jan Teague. Final arrangements will be discussed at the
meeting on May 25th.
